Description
Kundalee (Hindi for 'Spiral') is a short study for clarinet, cello and viol. The piece is an experiment using some of the rhythmic ideas associated with Konnakol music from Southern India. In particular it takes overlapping rhythmic cycles that get progressively smaller - 5,4,3,2,1 creating music that gets gradually faster both over the shorter cycle of barlines and over the entire length of the piece. This creates a feeling of spiral movement.
